Smart Phone Marketing

We are in the mobile and app revolution right now. So what business opportunities are there for your business? Mobile media means that users can interact and converse when and where it is convenient for them. Using social media makes it easy to communicate with customers using social platforms through mobile devices and interact in real time. Most of you are aware of the popular devices such as Smartphones, iPads, and Androids that provide online connection, cool apps and high resolution viewing capability.

It's not just the device or hardware that is important. How the device can be used for business opportunities is even more important.

Mobile Apps are the pieces of software that can be downloaded from various App stores... Apple, Android, etc. Most mobile apps are quick and easy to download and very user friendly. Providing an interface for customers to consistently interact with your brand is extremely important as we move further into the world of mobile. Designing a custom web app for your business is a great way to make it more convenient for a customer and offer products when customers want products. Some are relating this mobile & app revolution to the Industrial Revolution because of its major impact on humanity and the massive change it is having on our daily lives. Mobile technology is having a profound effect on us that will forever change how people access and obtain information as well as purchase goods and services.

In a previous article about mobile marketing titled, Mobile Marketing-100 Million Served and Counting from June 14, 2011, I spoke about unique users surpassing 105 million. Mobile searches are now quadrupling from the increasing number of mobile users. Within the US, most people are now using on average from 15-20 apps on a regular basis and higher numbers of apps are used depending on the age of users. This is a great opportunity for small to mid-sized businesses to participate in mobile and app marketing. Most small businesses are typically not on the innovative edge or part of the early adopters in new technology and why not? The expense of getting involved is relatively low.

Businesses should create a mobile website to obtain permission from customers to text them with special offers and promotional information. This will allow your business, to connect with local customers with offers or specials by having the mobile option available for them to access.

If you don't have a mobile site as people search from their mobile device, it is difficult to engage them with most company sites. Partly because mobile sites by their sheer size and application are designed for real time interaction. Case in point; searching for a place to eat on your mobile phone... you don't want to see an entire web site, just a menu. If you are still not sold, test your site on a mobile device and see through the eyes of a consumer.

Other considerations include the functionality of the mobile site: the image load times, promotional offers, content and data retention.

Whether you want to test the waters more slowly or fully dive in, there are mobile options with mobile websites all the way to having your own app developed that is specially designed for your customers. The mobile and app revolution is still in infancy stages so the time is now to take advantage of this opportunity. Don't miss the revolution.
