Decision Making Should Be Based on Your Research Rather Than Other's Comments

To converse and comment about a particular topic which we hardly come across is always dangerous. We should have sufficient knowledge or evidence before commenting on things, especially if our comment is going to be a decisive factor. I would like to illustrate the ill effects of such comments. If we ask anyone their view on a subject they are most willing to share things they know, but many a times they comment based on what they had heard or found out from others. It may or may not be right, but we are risking the credibility of the particular subject. To elaborate this in detail I would like to exemplify about a company against which some people have annotated online without knowing actual facts. The company I am discussing is Pancard Clubs Ltd. I choose this company because of my personal experience with the company.

I planned to invest some amount in their investment scheme, but before investing I thought of having some expert advice. I researched about the company online and found many comments and quote which defame the company as fraud & cheats. The moment I saw the comment I decided not to invest any amount in this company. After six months I happened to meet my ex-colleague. We had a good conversation about the market and the effects of the budget on the market. The one point which he said caught my instant attention. He told about enjoying his holidays at a very nominal cost. When inquired he said that he had invested in Pancard Club Investment Scheme. The moment I heard the company's name, I recollected the time when I was supposed to invest in this scheme. I articulated all the things I encountered when I was willing to invest. He was amused to hear this. The only reply he gave was "No one endorses a good thing, but everyone advertises about negative things." This conversation bought a change in my observation. The decision which I took six months ago about not investing in the firm was because I read negative comments about the company. The comments might not be true, but my decision was based on it. I didn't make any effort to investigate about the comment.

I thought why some would post a negative comment about the company, unless the company has not fulfilled their promises. The comment included copy-pasted content of the Investment Scheme terms & condition documents which directly contradict the member's complaint. What affected me was I took my decision on a post which was not genuine. Although I am not regretting about the lost opportunity, but I rue about the trust I put on the confutative comment posted by a member.

Such instances made me realize that it's always better to draw any conclusion after proper analysis. Now, I consider others point of view and take decisions only after researching about it. Everyone has the right to post their grievances, but they should also try posting good things they experience. All this will surely help companies to deal with all the incorrect allegations posted against them.

Stop Making Excuses - Take Ownership Of Your Actions

When you make excuses it can say so many things about you. Things I would say are not enduring, It tells me you are not committed to what you said you would do. There was something more important that came along so you decided to do that instead. Perhaps you are faced with the fear of failure or you do not want to feel the rejection. In short you are living in the blame game. You chose to externalize your actions. You foolishly believe it's somebody else's fault.

In a real life experience, I was in a meeting with a Head Hunter where I was asked why I was recently fired from the high level position I held with a large corporation. I told the interviewer that I blew it. I said I had made the wrong political move. The interviewer looked at me puzzled and said" How interesting. Most people would have blamed someone else or externalized the situation." That's the way that I saw the situation. We all make wrong decisions and mistakes in our lives. For heavens sake own up to it. Find out what you learned from this? The best thing to do is create a clean slate and move on.

I believe that answers do not appear on their own. Answers only come after you ask a question. This is true even if you are problem solving on our own. When you have made an excuse you better have a real good reason because somewhere along the line, someone is going to ask you the question. Why? What happened? Some of my most favorite sayings and quotes come from Mark Twain. This one pretty much sums it up. " If you tell the truth you do not have to remember anything." Consider the notion that being dishonest is hard work. You constantly have to remember what you said. Channel your energies to something positive. As odd as this may sound, I believe that owning up to the truth, as hard as it may seem will bring your respect.

Excuses hang out with procrastinators. Procrastinators always seem to have a reason not to get it done. If your procrastinating, I recommend you search for the reason why. Procrastination is predicated on fear of the unknown and the inability to deliver on what you said you could do. For many of you and especially sales people, it's the fear of rejection. The easy stuff and the fun stuff seem to get scratched off the to do list with ease. I recommend you do the hard stuff first. You will find the balance of the day will breeze by with ease. I suggest you plan your day this way and there be no need for excuses.

To be truly successful in any aspect of life, we must have sound plans to move forward. When you take ownership of your actions you have removed guilt from the situation. Making excuses is easy. Success can be easy to if you are committed to your master plan and goals. Mistakes just become bumps in the road. No need to blame anyone else when you hit a bump because you are the one with your hands firmly on the wheel. When you make excuses you are not in control of your situation. To be fully in control is when we take ownership of your actions.

Illegal Immigration - Are Authorities Making a Dent in It?

The Democrats and the Obama administration want to keep the flow of non-criminal illegal immigrants into our nation moving forward, and they wish to provide a path to citizenship. It should be obvious why, they want this next generation of voters to come into the United States, procreate, and provide an endless new population of Democrat Voters. Many might say that I am far too cynical, and it's not fair that I make that statement, however if you look at the Democratic Strategy Playbook, they admit it, and it is part of their focus moving forward so they can remain in leadership role of our government for the next few decades.

Now then, does this strategy make sense, you bet it does from a political standpoint, however from an American standpoint, I think it stinks. What we really need to do in this country is to streamline the immigration and integration process so people can become US citizens without having to break the law. There was an interesting article in the Wall Street Journal on August 15, 2011 titled; "Immigration Audits Drive Illegal Workers Underground," by Miriam Jordan.

The article explains the new tact being taken by the immigration department, and how The Border Patrol and US Immigration Service are doing silent raids - the silent raids are much different than the confrontational raids where they roll up unannounced at a business and round up all the workers and check for their IDs, and take the illegal aliens put them in a paddy wagon and cart them off. In a silent raid they come and look at all of the I-9s and make sure that anyone working there is a legal citizen.

They're looking for a paperwork trail, and they also advise the business owner; who is and who is not a legal citizen. The business owner then has to let those employees go who are not actual citizens, and the authorities come back later to make sure that they have done so. The illegal aliens are still in the country, just not able to work. If the business owner hasn't the company is fined, and there can be criminal penalties. Why is the Obama Administration calling these departments to do it that way you ask?

It's simple really because the unions want to prevent competition from companies that do not hire union labor, and may be hiring illegal aliens, giving them the unfair price advantage in the marketplace. This way the Obama Administration and the Democrats can't keep the Hispanic vote, not deal with the real problems, and still get their union organizers to walk precincts and get their vote out. Is this helping, is it making a dent in the illegal immigration and illegal worker programs?

The article suggests that it isn't, and I would submit to you that it is correct. If you drive around your city, you will see people out working who are probably not US citizens, they "maybe" illegal aliens working under the table, but they are doing different kinds of jobs, and there's really no enforcement. Therefore one has to question this entire strategy, and if we are even being true to the laws of our nation. Please consider all this and think on it.

If We Want Jobs We Need to Stop Making It So Hard on Small Businesses

Back in the early 90s I got so fed up with the municipality where I did most of my business, that I decided it was time for a change. Indeed, I filled out the paperwork and I ran for City Council. It wasn't so important for me to get elected, rather than to make sure that small businesses in the community got a fair shake. While running for city Council I got my share of publicity, newspaper articles, radio interviews, and participated in the local debates which were televised.

Indeed, it wasn't much different than what we are currently watching as the GOP candidates vie for the primary ticket of the Republican Party. The only difference perhaps is that the folks are dressed a lot nicer, and everyone is wearing makeup. The questions asked from the audience, and various political players throughout the community wasn't much different, in fact, I'd say many of the challenges in the municipality were quite controversy let the time, and there was mud-slinging of course - that's politics.

Now then, I am completely bothered by the fact that we have the same problems we did back in the early 90s in that small city, as we do throughout our nation today. It is as if Washington DC doesn't care, it's not as if they don't know of the problems. Surely, they have to know, as there are a number of members of Congress who started out as small businesspeople. The challenges of our small businesses in the United States are nothing new, but it's time that we made a paradigm shift. If our current administration can't do it, we need to remove and replace them in the 2012 election.

If our leadership in Washington DC, and at the state level will not listen to the plight of the small business person, and fix some of these onerous regulations and rules which are duplicated through the various levels of government, then we cannot have full employment in our economy. Ten percent of the American population owns their own business - they are self-employed - that 10% employees 60 to 70% of Americans.

Yes, we need to make things easier on our large corporations as well, but we shouldn't bend over backwards for them without also doing the same for our small business community. The corporations have been making money hand over fist, and through crony capitalism we have engaged in corporate welfare and we've spent our treasury into oblivion. No, it's not all the lobbyists' fault or the corporations' fault, we also have outrageous expenses and social programs too of course. Nevertheless, the small business person is competing in unfair playing field and at a disadvantage.

There was a great article in the Wall Street Journal about all this titled; "Want Jobs? Cut Local Regulations," by Chip Mellor and Dick Carpenter (published on July 28, 2011). It was an interesting article to read, but it is nothing different than what I had through back in the early 90s, nothing has changed, and we've been promised as a small business community that things would change, but these politicians we sent to Washington DC - are no doing what must be done to get this country back to full-steam.

Well, this is where the rubber hits the road, the Obama Administration must lead by example, and host a "red magic marker committee" filled with small business people to go through all these rules and help reduce regulations at the federal level, thus setting an example for state, county, and local governments to do the same, or we just will not have our employment numbers return. Our economy cannot fire on all cylinders, until we stop harassing and over regulating our small business community. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on.
