Weather Apps for iPad: How to Track a Hurricane on Your iPad

Hurricanes never come in time. They always move very quickly and leave disaster behind. They break roads, damage houses and towns. They make people suffer, especially, those who were caught by a sudden unpleasant surprise.

Can you track a hurricane on your iPad? You surely can. No matter how active the hurricane season is this year, you will know where it is the most active and whether it can affect your life.

Your iPad can really help you during and after a hurricane. There are a lot of useful weather applications that can provide you essential information about upcoming and recent storms.

1. Hurricane HD is a weather app for iDevices available for $3.99. Install it and you will know everything about the storm's track.

It shows you information right from the National Hurricane center and includes useful weather forecasts, moving radar images, advisories and tropical bulletins.

You'll learn about the forming storms, storms underway, and storms in the past (for example, Katrina) and be able to watch videos for storms.

2. IMap Weather Radio is a $9.99 application designed for iPad. This radio updates you about all weather events around you, including life-threatening storms and hurricanes.

It has an option to send you voice and text alerts. It can quickly warn you about the upcoming changes in weather even at night. Besides, there is a great follow-me feature that can read your GPS location and send you alerts or audio beeps with a description of the problem wherever you are at the moment.

If you are driving, you can listen to your alert and weather forecast without stopping.

3. Global Alert Network and The Weather Channel are free weather apps for iPad that I find pretty useful.

Global Alert Network sends you alerts about national traffic and weather. You can listen to these alerts hands-free while driving or walking. When you run this application on your device, it keeps track of your location and warns you in case you can be affected by weather.

The Weather Channel includes maps, radars, forecasts and alert indicator. You can watch video forecasts and search forecasts by your city, address and ZIP code.

Other great applications I would like to mention include National Hurricane Center and Shelter View by the American Red Cross. The first one will help you to prepare for a hurricane or storm. The second one will provide information about available shelters.

I really hope that you would never be affected by a hurricane, but in case the forecast is unfavourable or dangerous, keep in mind that there are useful weather apps for iPad that can warn you and help you to survive.
