CONCORD, N.H.—Ten days after losing more than half their seats, New Hampshire House Democrats are meeting to choose who they want to lead their reduced numbers in a Republican-controlled Legislature.
House Speaker Terie Norelli of Portsmouth, David Campbell of Nashua and Kris Roberts of Keene are seeking the post. Democrats are meeting in a closed caucus Saturday at the Statehouse.
The Democrats' nominee for speaker stands little chance of being elected to the post when the Legislature organizes Dec. 1.
Democrats won 102 of the 400 House seats. Recounts could change the final totals by a few seats.
Democrats could play a role in who wins by throwing their support behind a Republican candidate if Republicans fail to unite behind someone.
