Persistence Can Help Change Your Life
Persistence can be defined as, "Continued effort or existence." Used in a positive manner it can be a very powerful tool in the success of any goal.
As a survivor of domestic abuse I can now look back and see how my abuser was persistent. He would not give up until he got what he wanted. He wanted, what he wanted, when he wanted it and that was that! He used any means necessary, including power, manipulation and control to win his battle. At the time, I didn't even know I was involved in a battle.
This trait in my abuser was not visibly obvious to me until I walked away and began my long Journey to Freedom. I soon learned to put a positive spin on his display of persistence, helping me create the new life I so desired.
Through my personal experience of healing from abuse, persistence is:
Never, ever, give upNo matter what happens, keep on keeping onWhen you get knocked down, get right back up againMistakes are lessons meant to enrich your lifeOne important key to successDuring my quest for personal power I was faced with a great deal of opposition from well-meaning people. Although there were many reasons for this, I sight change as the main culprit. People, in general, do not like change. For me, the only way to fuel my strength, to distance myself from abuser, was to invoke a great deal of change in my actions, my life and my goals. Imagine my surprise when my support system, made up of close family and friends, began to knock me down one-by-one.
Statements, such as the following, were being hurled my way:
How did you become so selfish? You most certainly have changed, and not for the better! What makes you so special to dream for a better life?If everyone thinks you are wrong, why do I think you are right? What makes you think you can actually achieve success? You may wonder, "How did I deal with this?"
The answer is quite simple, "I became persistent!"
This was no easy feat for a woman that had suffered a long-term abusive relationship. Once hiding in the shadows of other sheep, I not only had to separate myself from the general herd of sheep but I had to stand tall to the ridicule of the masses.
Thus birthed within me a new quest for knowledge. In attempt to stay positive in mind set, I began to research real-life stories and biographies of successful people. Although the list could be endless, here are just a few examples of how well-known people in our history persisted against all odds:
(1) Lucille Ball was dismissed from drama class because she was too shy
(2) Thomas Edison was told he was stupid in school
(3) Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team
(4) Walt Disney was ridiculed for his dream of bringing animals to life on screen
Truth is:
It's easy to stand with the crowdIt takes courage to stand aloneWhile the key to success lies in many factors, the habit of persistence is definitely a golden gem of opportunity. Through my own life experiences persistence requires you to:
Believe in yourselfHave faith in yourselfFind the strength to go against the flowFind the courage to stand alone (away from the crowd and general population)Be willing to endure endings that can make way for new beginningsPersistence, partnered with other positive life-skills, helped me create a new beginning in my life. Your mind is a very powerful tool, believe and you can achieve.
Stand strong, have faith and go for it!

Is Kindle Fire Really Good? Will It Beat iPad in Popularity?
Yes and yes, it can. Amazon has launched a new tablet, Kindle Fire. It is a hybrid and portable device which has features of both an eBook reader and an Android tablet. Basically it is giving you the best of both worlds.
Be honest and think what do you use iPad for? Watching movies, reading books etc? Let us be real. Not many of us are jet setting executives who use the Apple tablet for video conferencing calls. Amazon is the first company to recognize this and has given us a product which gives us exactly what we want. Yes, this Fire keeps us entertained. You can read thousands of books, watch movies, listen to songs, play games and download apps. You can also access internet and check your mails and Facebook. And all this at a price you would not believe. Kindle Fire is priced at just 199$. Compare this with the price of cheapest iPad. Here are its features:
· Has 7 inch multi-touch display with 1024x600 pixel resolution and 16 million colors
· Its size is just 7.5"x4.7"x0.45" (inches)
· Internal storage of 8 GB
· Free cloud storage
· Battery life is up to 8 hours.
· Has Wi-Fi and supports public and private Wi-Fi networks.
· Has a USB 2.0 port.
· Has a 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones and top mounted speakers for better audio quality.
To be fair, it lacks features like camera, microphone and GPS because of its low price. But I can live with that. It has a 7 inch wide display with a screen quality which is exceptional for the price. It has a web browser, Amazon Silk, which gives good speed. It has Wi-Fi internet connection. It is powered by 1GHz processor which is fast and efficient. Kindle Fire uses a heavily modified custom version of Android, Android 2.3, which is basically for phones. You can use the Android app store to download popular apps like Zulu, Pandora and Netflix etc. Yes, you can play Angry Birds on this. You can read thousands of books available on Kindle library. Amazon has an enviable collection of more than 17 millions of songs which you can listen to using your tablet. You can read your favorite magazines in color.
I am sorry if this has started sounding like an ad for Kindle Fire tablet, but I am smitten by it. Yes, it was love at first sight. On a serious note though (because it's a review), THE Amazon tablet has two cons. First it has only 8 GB of memory, which is, alas, not expandable. But fear not thee kindle fire lovers, because Amazon has offered free digital content storage on Amazon Cloud. Its second irritating lack of feature is no 3G wireless connection. But it has Wi-Fi. As I getting a neat 300$ discount, I will adjust a little bit and though the lack of 3G connection pains me but I will live. Kindle Fire is totally worth your money.

Washington, D.C. –Today, Acting Under Secretary of Energy Arun Majumdar joined with North Carolina Congressman Howard Coble (NC-6) to tour the Volvo Group’s truck headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina, and highlight the blueprint for an America built to last laid out by President Obama in his State of the Union address earlier this week. The Department of Energy is partnering with companies like the Volvo Group to help harness American ingenuity to commercialize and deploy cutting-edge trucking technologies that will help boost the competitiveness of the U.S. auto and manufacturing industry, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and create jobs for American workers.
“Earlier this week in his State of the Union address, President Obama outlined a blueprint for a stronger American economy based on a resurgence in American manufacturing and innovations in the way we use energy,” said Dr. Majumdar. “Companies like the Volvo Group that are pursuing energy efficiency in their operations, putting Americans to work, and building more fuel-efficient vehicles underscore how investments in clean energy technology are helping to secure America’s future economic prosperity.”
In partnership with the Energy Department, the Volvo Group is helping to lead the industry to advance innovative clean energy vehicle technologies and energy-efficient manufacturing. Through the Department’s SuperTruck program, the Volvo Group was awarded $19 million – which the company is matching dollar for dollar – to improve the efficiency of heavy-duty vehicles like the Mack and Volvo Trucks. Volvo Group has also embraced manufacturing efficiency as part of the DOE’s Better Buildings, Better Plants Program, pledging to reduce the energy intensity of its manufacturing plants with assistance and guidance from the Energy Department. These steps to become more energy-efficient will reduce operating costs at the facility, improving the competitiveness of the company’s products and manufacturing plants.
Dr. Majumdar and Congressman Coble were hosted by Dennis Slagle, Executive Vice President of Volvo Group Trucks Sales & Marketing - Americas, on the tour of the Volvo Group’s Technical Center, which is in the midst of an $8 million expansion.
The Volvo Group’s award was one of four Energy Department-sponsored SuperTruck development projects, which focus on increasing the fuel efficiency of Class 8 trucks – better known as 18-wheelers – by 50 percent. To achieve this goal, companies like the Volvo Group are developing and improving vehicle technologies in engine efficiency, aerodynamics, waste heat recovery, and hybridization, among other approaches. Through the SuperTruck program, the Energy Department expects fuel economy increases from 6.5 miles per gallon to 9.75 miles per gallon – saving long-haul truckers more than $15,000 per truck per year in fuel costs.
Class 8 trucks represent only 4 percent of the on-road vehicles in America, but are responsible for almost 20 percent of the country’s on-road fuel consumption. Implementation of SuperTruck technologies will not only lessen the nation’s dependence on petroleum, but also improve the global competitiveness of U.S. truck manufacturers.
While Volvo is building more efficient vehicles, the company is also improving the energy efficiency of the manufacturing plants that make them. In December 2009, the company joined the Department of Energy’s Save Energy Now LEADER initiative, now known as the Better Buildings, Better Plants Program, to begin an ambitious effort to significantly reduce the energy intensity of its operations as a way to increase competitiveness. Since then, Volvo’s New River Valley plant, located in Dublin, Virginia, has implemented a range of measures with guidance from the Department’s technical experts that reduced its energy intensity by almost 30 percent in just one year. Embracing energy efficiency measures helped Volvo cut costs and keep operations—and jobs—for its truck manufacturing business here in the United States.
Volvo Truck Corporation is one of the leading heavy truck and engine manufacturers in the world. Volvo Trucks manufactures a line of Class 8 trucks, and is known as a major innovator in the heavy-vehicle industry, selling products in more than 180 markets worldwide.

5 Easy Essentials to Begin Feeding Birds
Okay, so you want to start feeding those pretty little backyard birds. You like hearing their cute twittering tweets and bubbly songs. You want them to stick around and gobble up all those nasty bugs and their larvae. By the way, birds can do a number on weed seeds. In fact, that's what helps to sustain them all winter long in the northern climates.
It's human nature to want to feed animals--to help nature along, so to speak.
So what is the best way to get started? What exactly do you need? Here are 5 essentials that will get you well on your way to making your backyard a favorite hangout for one of nature's best defenses against weeds and insects.
1. A fly-through or tray style feeder with a roof to protect the birds and the seed from wet weather. This feeder can be mounted on a pole, post, deck or window. It depends on your situation and how much room you have in your yard. If you select a tray feeder, it can be placed right on the ground. Be aware, though, that if you have cats or they might be present in the neighborhood, this type of feeder must not be used on the ground. Your birds would be easy prey. So be sure to hang or pole mount such a feeder to keep your birds safe.
I have found that the best poles come from the plumbing department at the nearest big box hardware store. They are available in long lengths which they will cut for you at the store. These pipes are inexpensive, very sturdy, and the galvanized metal lasts a long time in all kinds of weather. One end will be threaded so the right size fitting, also found in the plumbing department, will screw right on to the top of the pole. The fitting needs to be a threaded flat metal flange with screw holes. Use wood screws to attach the flange to the bottom of your feeder. Rotate the whole assembly into the threaded end of the pole and you're all set.
You'll need to dig a hole about a foot or 18" deep to accommodate your new pole and feeder. So buy a length of pipe that is a total of 6-½ to 7' long. I used a small torpedo level to make sure the pole was standing straight before I added a few large stones for support. Then I mixed up some quick setting cement (also from the hardware store) and filled the hole. Remember to check for level again before the cement sets up and make final adjustments. Once the cement has set, you can attach and fill your bird feeder and wait for your first bird to find it. Be patient, they will find it!
2. Black oil sunflower seed is universally accepted and eaten by a huge variety of birds. In my area, the backyard bird gang consists of chickadees, nuthatches, woodpeckers, juncos, finches, cardinals, blue jays, titmice, sparrows, etc. And yes, you will learn which one is which by using #5 below! All these birds and many more can easily open and eat black oil sunflower seed.
This seed contains high energy, nutritious oil--a great source of good fat to keep birds warm in winter and healthy year round. I buy it by the 40-pound bag at the local tractor supply store. I keep it in a clean large sealable plastic-lidded garbage can, which I have in the garage for easy access and to keep the seed cool and fresh.
3. Don't forget that a tube-type baffle is necessary to keep those pesky, clever squirrels from climbing your pole and wiping out your precious seed before the birds ever get a chance! Placement of your pole is critical. It needs to be at least 8 feet from any overhanging tree branches or shrubs, and at least 5 feet from ground to feeder base. Squirrels are very adept at the standing high jump. I can attest to that!
4. Some sort of bird bath or suitable vessel to hold water. Don't overfill your bird bath. Two inches is plenty. Any more than that and you risk drowning your little friends. Clean water is as essential to the birds as it is to us. They must have it year round to avoid dehydration and death. I always add a clean flat stone so the birds can decide to 'wade in' or drink some water before their bath.
My Mom used a very large plastic pot turned upside down. On top of that she added a cake pan she no longer used. You don't have to pop for an expensive bird bath. Just make sure it is secure and won't overturn when birds land on it.
In winter it is essential that the water not freeze over. That's where a bird-safe low-voltage inexpensive bird bath heater comes in handy. Hook this up to an outdoor rated extension cord and you're good to go. The heater will keep the temperature of the water just above the freezing mark. It will have a cover that will protect the birds from the element inside, and there's no chance of shock if used with a UL listed extension cord.
5. Finally, a good bird guide makes identifying your backyard visitors a fun and easy task. It's optional to keep a journal, but I find it enjoyable to look back at my notes occasionally to see how far I've come in my quest at identifying as many different birds as I can. This is also known as a 'life list'. Many die-hard birders travel the globe looking for new species of birds to add to their life list.
There are numerous good bird guides available. I started with 'The National Audubon Society Guide to North American Birds', and I have also used the 'Peterson's Field Guide to Birds'. Both are excellent in different ways. Browse your bookstore or online to find the one that you like best.
There you have it. Five easy essentials to make bird feeding in your backyard a fun hobby. It's also great to know that you are making a difference in the survival of our beautiful wild birds. Make a connection to nature and you will be rewarded with color and song. And did I mention you won't have as many weeds or bugs?!

All I Need Is a Chance He Said - Wrong, What He Needs Is to Do, Not Beg
The other day, someone wished to join our think tank, and they told me that all they needed was a chance; they need someone to give them a chance and they would shine. Then they asked me if I remembered when someone gave me a chance - and asked me to remember back when I was young and just starting out. The reality is that no one ever gave me a chance, I had to fight for my chance, I was told I couldn't do it, it wasn't allowed, or that I wasn't good enough. I knew that not to be true, and I made my own way. I'd like to talk to you about this for second because you're probably already dismissing what I'm saying.
Sure, there were people along away who said they wanted to give me a chance, but every time someone wanted to give me a chance, the reality is they wanted to harvest my hard work ethic and energy and make money off of my efforts. The bank that gave me my first business loan, said that they wanted to give me a chance, but "fat chance" as this was when interest rates were approaching 10% or more. They weren't giving me a chance rather the bank was making a ton of money. Don't kid yourself.
When I was young I started my first aircraft washing business at age 12, and the local fixed base operator at the airport wanted to give me a chance and let me clean their aircraft. Were they really giving me a chance, or were they hiring me because I charged less than everyone else, and I would do it cheaper? I would submit to you that they hired me because the prices were low, and it didn't make sense for them to pay their own employees to do the work, because I would do it cheaper, and I worked harder, and therefore did a better job, and they saved money.
Did they really give me a chance? You might say they gave me a chance, and I earned my keep, and proved my worth, but I would submit to you that they used me. I understood the game, and I was perfectly okay with that, but I didn't need anyone to give me a chance, not really. I took my chances, I seized the moment, I grabbed opportunity, and I never looked back. I find it very unfortunate that people in our society believe that they need to be given a chance. No.
They don't need to be given a chance; they need to put forth effort and perform, and when they do that other people will notice, and they will let them prove themselves. These people who say they need a chance are wrong - and they don't need to be given anything by the government, or our tax dollar, if they want to make it the world they have to do what I did, and every other successful person did in this country, they have to perform, put in the hard work, and persevere. They need to develop strength of character, and be committed and dedicated to their cause.
They don't need a chance; they were already born, and now they're here they've got their chance. What they make of their life is their business, their choice, and in the United States at least, we live in the greatest nation ever created in the history of mankind; there are plenty of chances and opportunities for everyone, but fact is that they need to; take it.
Indeed I hope you will please consider all this, and if you are a left-leaning bleeding heart liberal, and wish to debate with me let's go ahead and talk, but I guarantee you I have experience, observation, and real-world knowledge backing me up on my point of view. And that trumps all your academic BS studies.

The Facts About Eyelash Treatment
Millions Of People Are Stuck Today
Millions of people are stuck today and I'm not talking about - in traffic.
Whether it's a toxic or invalidating relationship, a career that has lost its allure, a business that no longer satisfies or a way of life that just isn't fun any more. Why do people stay stuck? Why do they settle? Why are they afraid to move on or change something before it's too late?
There are numerous reasons why someone refuses to move on from circumstances that are less than rewarding even destructive emotionally, physically or psychologically. But there are a few common reasons that people use to justify staying where they are and not experiencing the excitement, joy and adventure that could lie ahead for them. Here are a few of them.
Money and security.
There is no security outside of yourself. Just because your spouse is financially independent today doesn't mean they will be tomorrow.
Just because your business is prosperous today doesn't mean it will be next year. This is one of the main reasons people stay in bad or at best unrewarding relationships or careers. How will I pay my bills next month? How will I - yada yada yada - next year.
I know a lot of people who are miserable in their relationships, but won't leave for fear that they will starve, be homeless or on welfare. Yes, this could be the outcome, but I ask you, are you willing to give up - life as it could be, no should be - for each of us just because you have this financial safety net given to you by someone else? Trust me - it can be gone in a heartbeat. I once asked a lady friend who was going through a divorce, just a friend folks, in what circumstances would you go back to your former spouse? Now keep in mind their marriage was a sham and filled with mis-trust, emotional abuse and no love or respect whatsoever. Her answer - well if I can't survive financially I would go back to him.
I'm not judging here but I ask you - why go back to a hell on Earth just so you can have some financial peace of mind (and by the way this peace of mind if grounded in money could be lost in the wink of an eye.)?
The fear of uncertainty
The only thing that is certain in life is its uncertainty. Nothing, I repeat, nothing today or tomorrow is certain. Life happens, changes - yes sometimes it gets worse and sometimes it gets better - but continue to change it does without a concern for our attitudes, fears, needs, dreams or goals about what is changing or why and when.
Leaving a career or a business behind can be an exciting new beginning. As I have said many times - endings are just new beginnings in disguise. Staying in a less than satisfying relationship because you fear you might die alone - well there is no guarantee you won't die alone even if you stay with Attila the Hun - forever!
Change in general
People say they are afraid of change. What people are really afraid of is losing control of some aspect of their life. If you are happy in a job, you don't have your resume on the street. If you are happy in your relationship, you are not cruising the internet dating sites. However, if you feel like an area of your life is out of control or getting more out of control or could be out of control in the future, you will do something, maybe even something stupid, to regain or not lose the control you so desperately need and think you have.
We all make lots of life decisions some have short-term impact while others take years to fulfill but in the end no-one can totally control the outcome of any decision. We can evaluate, consider, plan, dream, hope and even work hard towards achieving our decisions, but none of these will absolutely ensure that the outcome of the decisions we make will look like what we wanted them to when we made them. Life is to be lived not just planned.
It probably isn't any better over there
Why change something - it's probably worse over there. Well, maybe yes and maybe no, but you will never find out if you don't make the trip. I'm not suggesting that at the first sign of adversity that you should bail. I'm not even suggesting that you should bail just to see what's over there. What I'm saying is, if the reason you are staying stuck is because of fear of what's over there well - you'll never know will you?
This is what I deserve
We deserve what we think we deserve. We deserve what we let other people tell us we deserve and we deserve no more or no less than what we think we are worth. Our worth is not our knowledge but our wisdom. Our worth is not our experience but our life outlook. Our worth is not our education but our goals. You are getting what you believe you deserve. Want something better or different? Then change what you think you deserve. It's that simple. Does this mean you will get everything you think you deserve? Of course not, but I'll guarantee you'll get more if you think you deserve more.
What will other people think
You can't imagine how many times I have heard from intelligent people, "I can't leave this relationship - what will my neighbors think?" "I can't leave this career, what will my in-laws think?" I can leave this business what will all of my friends think?" "I can't move somewhere new, where I will be happy, what will my kids think?"
You would be amazed at how many people are more concerned about what others think of them than what they think of themselves. Sad, very sad.
Quite frankly I don't give a rip what you think. Yes, I will listen, be respectful but in the end this is my life not yours, my parents, my kids, my neighbors or Uncle Willy's.
I'm too old to start over
This is one of my favorites. I could give you hundreds of example of people who really didn't get their career, business or life in gear till they well into their 60's. Yes this tends to be the exception but the message is clear - you are never too old to start something new. You are too old however if you think you are.
I know people who started the most loving relationships in their 70's. I know people who fulfilled their life long dreams in their 80's and what about one of my favorites - George Burns (for those of you old enough to remember him).
Physical age is a number. Emotional age is an attitude and mental age is a mindset. My mantra changed when I hit 60 'I'm just getting warmed up'. This sign sits on my desk so I will never look at anything in terms of my chronological age but always by my mental and emotional age.
Age is only an issue if you let it be an issue. Yes, when you get old, you look older, have less stamina and possibly less energy and a few more aches and pains and wrinkles, but look at it this way - you have a lot of years of experience that you take into what's next.

App Maker Marketing Guideline: Hire a Firm or Do It Yourself Marketing?
Your job as an app maker doesn't end after launching your mobile application. The truth is, you're just getting started. The next important thing you need to focus on is spreading the word on how cool or useful your app is. You basically have two choices: one, handle marketing on your own; or two, hire a pro.
Whichever route you take, remember that going unprepared is a bad idea--and thus should never be an option. Enough knowledge, thorough research and proper planning are fundamental to successfully promote your mobile application. Also, marketing should never be a one-person show. Amazing ideas pour in when people collaborate to achieve the intended objectives.
Determining where to start is usually tricky and is an inevitable part of the learning process. This is applicable for new app makers and majority of marketing companies. That's why if a firm dove right into the marketing part of your app sans competitor research and analysis, you should be rather suspicious about that firm.
Because no two products are the same, you need to know and really understand your target market. Check what tech bloggers are saying about your competitors' apps. Take time reading user reviews/feedbacks to learn more about your audience's specific needs, wants and even dislikes. All these information would bring you leverage on how to better market your mobile application.
Perhaps, you'd choose to perform your own marketing initiatives because of limited budget. On the other hand, if money is not an issue and your time is precious, then it's more sensible to just someone else to do it. Just make sure to do a background check on the firms you're interested in to avoid disasters. Relevant forums, LinkedIn groups and other online resources are good places to start.
To summarize, if you have innate marketing skills and enough experience, do-it-yourself style should be fine. Besides, there are many mobile app marketing techniques and tips that you can readily learn online. But if you're simply an app maker with zero knowledge about marketing and promotion, you're better off outsourcing the task.
Bizness Apps is making mobile apps affordable and simple for small businesses. We're a do-it-yourself app maker for iPhone, iPad, HTML5, and Android app platform with a full white label mobile app program.

WASHINGTON, DC – At an event today in Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced the 20 collegiate teams selected to compete in the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2013 and unveiled the competition’s location, the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, California. The 20 teams from colleges and universities across the United States and from around the world will now begin a two-year process to build solar-powered, highly energy-efficient homes that combine affordability, consumer appeal and design excellence. Throughout the two-year process, the teams will design, construct and test their homes before reassembling them at the Solar Decathlon 2013 competition site. As part of the Solar Decathlon, teams compete in ten different categories – ranging from best architecture and engineering to energy production for heating and cooling – while gaining invaluable real-world experience in a growing global industry.
“As President Obama made clear in the State of the Union address this week, we need to ensure that the next generation of America’s architects, engineers and entrepreneurs have the hands-on experience and training they need to lead our nation’s clean energy future,” said Secretary Chu. “The Solar Decathlon will unleash the ingenuity, creativity and drive from these talented students to demonstrate new ideas for how families and businesses can reduce energy use and save money with clean energy products and efficient building design.”
In fall 2013, the student teams will showcase their solar-powered houses at the Orange County Great Park, highlighting renewable energy systems and energy-efficient technologies, products and appliances that are already available to homeowners. The selected teams and their proposed projects represent a diverse range of design approaches, building technologies, target markets, geographic locations, climates, and regions, including urban, suburban, and rural settings.
Since 2002, the National Mall in Washington, DC, has been the venue for five successful Solar Decathlons. For 2013, Solar Decathlon organizers decided to extend the competition’s reach beyond Washington and showcase energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies to a new group of visitors and sponsors. The Orange County Great Park, located between Los Angeles and San Diego, is a dynamic venue that can accommodate the 20 competition houses and the special needs of the Solar Decathlon event—featuring flexible space, ample visitor parking, existing facilities for large special events, and nearby services for visitors. With direct freeway and rail access and generally favorable weather conditions, the Park will also ensure that residents across Southern California have an opportunity to experience the Solar Decathlon.

There Is Nothing Impossible With Inner Peace
What is inner peace? How can we achieve inner peace? These are the most obvious questions that would come to our minds; when we are reflecting internally and ask ourselves if we have inner peace within ourselves.
We cannot expect others to give us inner peace, at the same time we have full control over experiencing our inner peace. To gain inner peace we don't have to enrol ourselves to a mountain retreat! (but that might help to discipline us quicker); we can experience inner peace now, exactly where we are. When we understand the value of having inner peace, we will make deliberate efforts to make it a reality.
Inner peace is achieved from within. We cannot expect to find it externally; meaning it's not something that someone can give us. Sometimes we are delusional that when perfect circumstances arise; or when we strive for the highest status professional, we may get a glimpse of inner peace, but it's always short-lived. We apprehensively struggle to find that perfect person to share our lives in the hope, that we will eventually experience inner peace naturally.
We are often dismally disappointed, that after fufilling our dreams achieving status or finding a perfect life partner, we realize that we don't feel peaceful. We poignantly become aware that our quest for life is still meaningless!
How would I define Inner Peace?
Inner peace is when we are entirely and wholly satisfied and at ease with our current life experiences in various subjects i.e. Self, Health, Money, Relationship and Work.
Inner peace is the most valuable thing that we can cultivate. When we "Let Go" of everything that happened in the past and focus totally and fully in the present. Who am I is not the story about the past. History does not make, "who I am today". My past is the story of "who I was". Who I am today is a choice. I am free to make choices today. All choices that I make today will influence my present and future life.
Therefore to find inner peace it's vital to let go of what happened in the past and concentrate fully in the present. Often we have heard self-help gurus emphatically mention, "Be present in the Now". But we fail to understand how to go about being in the Now. We ask, "How can we do that?
By fully appreciating your life and everything in your life now, we become present.By being non-reactive and positively respond to the present-day challenges, we become centred in the now.By accepting obstacles as opportunities for future growth, we become wholly present in the now.By being at ease in the unknowingness or uncertainty, when we let go of the past, we become fully present in the now.Being alive is not about getting things done or accumulating possessions or titles. It's about living and enjoying now. Living comes only from "being". We can ask ourselves, "Are we living our life?" Or, "Is life living us?" Is life is just random events with glimpses of joy and inner peace? Are we having knee-jerk reactions to life or crafting authentic optimistic energy into life? Are we in control of our life or are we griped by fear and incapable of taking any action. "We can only find Inner Peace when we totally surrender our past"
Your past keeps you away from your present. If you focus on what happened in the past then it will not let you enjoy your present. Let go of your past by appreciating your present and you will experience Inner Peace.
"The more I stop trying to force outcome and simply be in the flow, the more magic that my life is meant to be, will appear. I made a decision to "let go" and enjoy while appreciating what I was going through and where it was taking me. That is when I realized that I could control everything that I was experiencing. I simply experienced it without labeling it as bad or good, beneficial or loss, releasing all judgement and having faith." Growth of Android Phones
Android is an operating system developed by the Open Handset Alliance controlled by Google, for mobile gadgets such as tablet computers and smartphones.
Android Inc., was the initial developer of Android and it was purchased by Google on August 17 2005. The Open Handset Alliance, which is a consortium of many software, hardware and telecommunication companies, was then formed and the Android operating system was distributed on November 5 2007. Since then Android phones have grown by leaps and bounds and steadily captured the mobile market.
Most of the Android code was released by Google under the Apache license which is a free software license. The functionality of the Android devices is extended by the large number of apps that are developed by a community of developers maintained by Android.
As of October 2011, there were more than 300,000 Android apps that are available for download and the number has been ever increasing. The number of apps that were downloaded has been known to exceed 10 billion. Such apps can be downloaded from the Android Market that is run by Google or from third-party sites.
Android operating system has had a number of updates since the original release, and each version had a new feature or fixed a problem with an older version. The latest version of the operating system is called Ice Cream Sandwich, which has an added feature of facial recognition.
Android phones have all the capabilities of smartphones such as storage, messaging, connectivity, multiple language support, Java support, web browser, media support, multi-touch, streaming media support, Bluetooth, multitasking, video calling, voice based features, screen capture and tethering.
HTC dream was the first phone to run on Android that was commercially available. Since then the phones have added a number of brilliant new features and the latest Samsung Galaxy series of phones are the very best in the market for smartphones.
The growth of Android phones
As per the information provided by Canalys, a research company, Android had a share of 2.8 percent of the worldwide shipments of smartphones as of Q2 2009. By Q4 2010, it had captured 33 percent of the market to top as the best selling smartphone platform. As per Gartner estimates, nearly 52.5 percent of the smartphone market belonged to Android as of Q4 2011.
In February 2010, only 9 percent of the United States smartphone market was held by Android. But as the number of mobile subscribers increased, this number gradually increased to 21.4 percent as of Q3 2010. The U.S. sales of Android surpassed that of iPhone in the first quarter of 2010. iPhone sales grew as well, which indicated that Android was capturing the RIM market in the U.S. Also, it is pointed out that since Android is a multi-carrier and multi-channel operating system, it was able to quickly duplicate the success of Microsoft's Windows Mobile.
As of June 2011, 550, 000 new Android gadgets were being activated on a daily basis and there were around 190 million Android devices in the smartphone market as of October 2011. This grew to 200 million users on November 16 2011.
Google bought Motorola Mobility for US $12.5 billion, on August 2011 thereby strengthening its hold on the market. This led to the opening of the first Android store in Melbourne in December 2011.

Have The Globalists Invaded China?
It's difficult to gauge what China's views on the Globalists are and if they are managing to prevent the Globalists from infiltrating their country. As the Chinese economy grows and demand for its capacity to manufacture goods increases, the biggest problem the Chinese will face is not the threat from environmental disaster or the looming economic collapse of Europe, it's the invasion of the Globalists.
The implementation of the New World Order is the main priority of the Globalists. The United States of America, Europe and Australia have all succumb to the lure of the Globalists. Corruption in banks, major corporations and government has dismembered the United States, European and Australian economies. However, the fastest developing economy in the world (China) is apparently resisting the temptation of the Globalists. Sadly, this won't last for long and the Globalists have already began their efforts to invade China.
Do not be fooled in thinking that the Globalists haven't already invaded China and commenced infiltrating their private and public institutions. In fact, over the last 10 years in China, the presence of the Globalists and Elite has been growing at a steady pace.
Recently, one of the world's most powerful Globalists George Soros, invested $40 million in the $2.8 billion IPO of a Chinese Jewellery company called Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Ltd, according to a report from Forbes. The Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Ltd listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange reportedly on December 15. Surprisingly, the Chow Tai Fook Jewellery company is valued more than Tiffany's.
Another Globalist, Warren Buffett, invested in PetroChina Company Limited. It was rumoured that shortly after, he sold his stake in PetroChina Company Limited and profited around 3.5 billion US Dollars. In 2008, during the month of October, he also invested in an automotive organisation through the purchase of around 10% of the organisations value of which totalled around 230 million USD.
Bill Gates, one of the world's most wealthy Globalists is now in talks with the Chinese Government to invest in nuclear power through an organisation called TerraPower. TerraPower is a subsidiary of Myhrvold's, and the company is building nuclear traveling wave reactor technology, which apparently is a relatively new type of small nuclear reactor design that can use the waste byproduct of the enrichment process, or waste uranium, for fuel. It is not yet known how much of an investment Bill Gate's will make, however what is known is that the funding will be provided thought the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Obtaining information about investment in China is difficult and the Chinese are usually reluctant to divulge any commercially sensitive information that they perceive could harm their interests. The Globalists need china and their plans of invading China via economic manipulation have already begun.
What the Chinese Government and its citizen need to be aware of is that these Globalists will stop at nothing to take over their banks, corporations and government. Thankfully, the Globalists are struggling to enter China, but as China continues its rapid expansion globally and becomes the new world superpower, resistance to the Globalists lies will become more and more difficult.
Will the Chinese fall for the Globalists like the Americans, Europeans and Australians did?
Welcome to The Globalists Report, Have you ever wondered why millions and millions of people around the world are talking about the New World Order? Well, it's because the Globalists have been publicly telling us that they are preparing the World for the introduction of the New World Order for more than 50 years.

A Walk in the Time With Miami's Architecture
Miami architecture has been at the forefront of Chic and Nouveau since its inception dating back to Carl Fisher and his dreams of what Miami would be. Its newness and bold look has been evident through the eras, never the same, always changing and ever adapting to its surroundings. Its visual difference is unlike any other city and noticeable from building to building and its skyline forms a kaleidoscope of innovative style which is candy to our eyes creating an ambiance of function and pleasure for those who live there and for the tourist Mecca it has become.
In its palm fringed avenues with scantily dressed residents Miami has become the dream commission of world known designers particularly in the downtown and beach areas. The buildings are lively with airy and spacious connections becoming world renown and are constantly reinventing themselves while holding on to its cultural influence.
Carl Fisher got the credit for Miami Beaches' adaptation of Mediterranean architecture and soon after architects influenced by the Art Deco movement of Europe moved to the Magic city to apply their designs to the tropical feel and look of the city. The buildings became streamlined with a nautical flair that accompanied the sea, sun and surf. The hum drum of the past was out and the new and bold became its signature. The materials of the past were put aside for a newer and lighter look with the use of Stucco, Terrazzo and glass to name a few.
From the Mangrove swamps and Palm, Pine, and live Oak forests Miami was transformed into a visual paradise dreamed up from the minds of innovative and forward thinking designers willing to let go of the norm. Miami's architecture was not only functional but became visually sensual to enjoy at every turn which brought tourists in by the millions creating its well known pedestrian atmosphere.
Recently Miami's architecture with its resident icons, the Fontainebleau Hotel and the Eden Roc were renamed - MiMo - for Miami Modern. But in this modern age of travel and easy access too many destinations, and the economical collapse of the 70's and 80's Miami lost its luster and some of its influence. In the late 70's Miami's Art Deco district of the past was put on the National Historic Registry and the area was restored to prominence making it Chic and shifting thought back to the Magic City, once again bringing back people and value to the once forlorn area which had fallen into decay.
Thanks in part to a new visually vibrant television show called "Miami Vice" that featured Miami as its backdrop, the city was revitalized and it brought back relevance and international attention, and the people came running to Miami once again.
Pastel colored buildings and mirrored towers became what people thought of when they thought of Miami. It was edgy and experimental and a pleasure for everyone to gazed upon it.
But the Magic Cities architecture wasn't done, and through the 80's and 90's it was evolving once again and a big push to designate more areas as Historical was made and eventually named 11 more as such.
Miami is a city which has always put civic pride first, thus designers have incorporated the indoors with the outdoors. Many world famous architectural firms such as Herzog and de Meuron to name one have helped change the landscape and look of the Magic City. For years the city committed itself to reclaiming public spaces like Lincoln Road in Miami Beach which became an outdoor living area for people to enjoy shopping while connecting with Mother Nature.
Downtown Miami's effervescent skyline meshed residential buildings with its multifaceted cultural makeup making it a place to enjoy with all your senses and a true one of a kind destination.
The Miami art Museum is a great example of innovative design and is scheduled to open in 2013. It has incorporated large balconies with spacious outdoor spaces and multiple levels adding once again to the wonders of the city's innovative designers making it unique in a world of copycat designers.
The economic crisis which has gripped the world today has made waterfront properties which were once out of reach viable for purchase and developing, and Miami has become a prime location for developers again.
A Malaysian firm recently purchased the land surrounding the Miami Herald building and is planning on creating a 3 billion dollar complex which will once again change the face of the Magic City in a new, innovative, and eye catching way incorporating residential, shopping, and public areas on the waterfront with spectacular views of the city and ocean beyond.
A new and exciting group of designers are now building in Miami for the first time, and they're not trying to recreate the Art Deco designs or the MiMo features of years past, but are adding to the skyline with a Latin American flavor and tropical feel. It won't be the glitzy forms of yesteryear but a subtle balance which will be uniquely Miami, taking into consideration its cultural mix and paying much more attention to detail instead of flash and adapting its designs more to the city's tropical surroundings and feel.
Miami is refreshingly sophisticated and unique but does not take itself too seriously which will create a skyline that will be a joy to look at and its spaces a wonder to live in, work in and relax in. The future of Miami's architectural designs is in good hands. The tropical lushness which is Miami and the beautiful buildings will be a wonder for all to enjoy.

What Is Newt's Appeal to Evangelical Christians?
After the candidates circled their wagons in Iowa and the dust had finally settled, it was Santorum by 34 votes. Newt Gingrich came in a distant 4th with only 13% of the vote. You may have wondered if Newt really had the heart to blaze the grueling trail to the presidency.
If his team was hoping to do better in 'Newt' Hampshire they were bitterly disappointed as he came in a distant 4th again. Prospects for winning the nomination were pretty dismal going into South Carolina without having broken into the top three in the previous two contests.
Newt's campaign boasts something the others can't. Last summer he went on vacation with his lovely wife only to return to a campaign that was in shambles with his staff jumping ship as if it were the Costa Concordia. The political pundits declared the Newt campaign dead in the water. But Newt did what all evangelicals love to relate to, he resurrected. As if one miraculous resurrection were not enough, after being declared dead again after Iowa and New Hampshire, Newt experienced a second resurrection in South Carolina.
Newt Gingrich shellacked Mitt Romney by winning 40% of the vote surpassing his opponent by a whopping 13%. The media's bobbleheads were in a tizzy to try to explain what had happened. Most all of them could drone on about how Newt captured the evangelical vote but nary a one could explain why evangelicals have a heart for Newt. Hadn't Newt been reprimanded by the House ethics committee for being reckless in regard to following the House rules back in 1997?Didn't he receive enormous amounts of money for consulting Freddie Mac (FMCC) in 2006, the same Freddie Mac that needed billions of taxpayer money to bail them out after the company foolishly approved an ocean full of high risk loans?
The pundits pondered how evangelical Christians could jump on board the Newt band wagon when he has been married three times and divorced twice?Newt graduated from Baker High School in Columbus, Georgia, in 1961. He married Jackie Battley, his former math teacher in 1962 when he was only 19 years old and she was 26. They had two daughters together. In 1980 Newt and Jackie were divorced amid many spiteful and unproven accusations.
Newt married Marianne Ginther six months after the finalization of his divorce with Jackie. Marianne accused Newt of requesting an "open marriage" and timed the release of her accusation to coincide with the closing moments of the South Carolina primary. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. "Newt denied he ever made the request and refused to bicker with his former wife. Newt and Marianne had divorced in 2000 having had no children. Later that same year Newt married his third wife, Callista Bisek, 23 years his junior.
The debris that litters the life of Newt Gingrich looks like the landscape in Birmingham after the tornadoes of April 2011. The political career of such a man should be buried deeply, very deeply under all the trash. So, what happened in South Carolina? Why would evangelical Christians vote for a man carrying so much baggage?
Evangelical Christians would never condone such behavior but they find it refreshing that Newt is humble and honest about his past transgressions. Newt is not denying the failures of his past. He is not splitting hairs over the meaning of the word 'is'. He is not vehemently denying his shortcomings and then making cameo appearances on national television to explain away his iniquities. Newt simply says, "On my bleakest days (referring to his moral failures), I knew that my sin was sin. "He goes on to describe his remorse and repentance and declares himself forgiven by a merciful Savior.
Christians are taught to forgive others just as they have been forgiven. "Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. " (Gal. 6:1)Christians are aware that many of those who are casting stones at Newt Gingrich live in glass houses with closets full of skeletons. They are not too troubled by that because "we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. " (Romans 3:23)Who hasn't participated in a stoning at some time in their lives?Isn't there a period in every life when each one realizes he/she is "like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean?" (Matthew 23:27)
Evangelical Christians find themselves supporting Newt Gingrich because they know the power of forgiveness. Newt claims he has been forgiven. Christians have all experienced the shame of sinfulness. Truly born-again Christians have received the grace of forgiveness that radically transforms a worthless life into a life that boasts eternal value. Newt garnered so many evangelical votes because Christians felt they had 'been there, done that'.
Would Christians react the same way to a liberal candidate who had committed such surly transgressions and sincerely repented?Absolutely, with unequivocal certainty!Would Christians vote for him? Not without evidence that he had been "transformed by the renewing of his mind". (Romans 12:2) True repentance causes the old to become new. Conversion to Christ brings extreme change to one's worldview.
A converted Christian candidate will no longer be an advocate for the murder of the unborn. A truly born again Christian will no longer promote sinful lifestyles of sexual promiscuity under the guise of acceptable alternative lifestyles. Those who are authentic Christ-followers will repent of their sin and pursue a life that is characterized by righteousness and holiness. Christians desire to fill an obligation to vote for the candidate whose worldview best matches theirs.
Newt Gingrich won the hearts of evangelical Christians because he is an imperfect man who found forgiveness in the perfection of Christ. They accept his claim that he is forgiven. They see him as a man who has been broken and then repaired. They hope and pray that he has experienced complete restoration and that he will be faithful to his promise to "uphold the institution of marriage through personal fidelity to my spouse. "And they hope he will also demonstrate such fidelity to the God he serves.
In South Carolina, the evangelical Christians demonstrated that their hope that Newt was being honest was greater than their fear he was but another wolf in sheep's clothing.

Very Rare Grey Seal Nurses Adopted Pup!
Spending so much time over the last few years watching the Atlantic Grey Seals, we've seen some amazing sights, but nothing prepared us for this one.
Mothers will often reject their Pup if she picks up unfamiliar scents, detects a danger or any kind of threat.
We sat high in the dunes watching the colony, there were the usual amazing sights, huge Bulls fighting, Males and Females breeding, new mothers feeding their young...
As we looked more closely we saw a tiny new born pup nuzzle up to another pup that was probably only just a few days older.
Usually the Mother will chase other Seals away, quite often you see them warn any Seal, young, old, male or female away from her and her young pup during this vulnerable time, but we watched, amazed as the Mother returned from the Sea, greeted her own Pup (the larger one) and then rolled over and allowed both Pups to feed.
After some time, she did move away with her own pup and left the smaller one on it's own again.
The tragedy of this beautiful set of photographs is the pup may have been abandoned by it's own mother, if it had not been abandoned, then when the mother returns and smells the other seals on her Pup she may not recognise it and will leave and never return.
There is also the risk of the mother losing too much weight too quickly as she nourishes both pups, leaving her and the pups weaker and more vulnerable that they would usually be.
I hope this young pup is a born survivor though and continues to use any means possible to get the nourishment it so needs at the moment.
Grey Seals give birth to one pup at a time and spend the next three weeks feeding it, during this time you can see the pups growing larger and larger while the mother slowly shrinks as she passes all her nutrients to her baby with her extra rich milk.
After three weeks the mother returns to the sea to feed and the pup is left alone to shed it's thick white coat before it ventures into the sea for it's very first taste of fish.
The female will breed again and return to the beach next year to give birth.
If you see a Seal Pup alone, please do not approach it. It's Mother is quite likely to be nearby and if she sees or smells you around her pup she may never return and the pup will starve to death.
If you think a seal is injured or abandoned, do not approach it but call the RSPCA 03001234 999 or in Scotland call the SSPCA 03000 999 999.

Ultrabook Vs Netbook: How Are the Ultrabooks Better?
Plenty of excitement has been generating about it fresh notebook computer category, but in this Ultrabook Vs. netbook guide you will observe how the best Ultrabooks are very superior to the out of date netbook computer.
Firstly, don't let the size of Ultrabooks deceive you. Even though they are extremely thin, they contain the power of full size laptops. Comparing Ultrabooks to netbooks is sort of a joke, considering the netbook's lack of power.
What Exactly Are Netbooks?
Years ago, LAPTOP makers begun constructing notebooks that were much smaller as opposed to common notebook. These kinds of machines were supposed to come to be compact, light as well as mobile along with extra long battery lives.
The problem with netbook laptops is that they are lacking the power of more common, full sized notebooks. These are typically equipped with underpowered processors as well as a below average amount of RAM. The reason why they are like this is to add a lot of time-span into the battery life and keep them dirt cheap.
This was actually an ideal investment for many who don't quite run demanding software on their notebook and would prefer to have portability. For many, though, the laughable technical specs simply just aren't sufficient. What do these individuals do should they desire a strong ultra-portable laptop with more than sixty minutes of battery life?
Ultrabooks Vs Netbooks Where the Advanced Notebook Rises
The introduction of Ultrabooks generated a massive buzz inside tech media. These kinds of notebooks, designed by Intel around their most up-to-date processors, was even thinner than nearly all netbooks but still contained the power of full sized laptops.
So Intel's Sandy Bridge processors inside these Ultrabooks aren't simply the most notable processors inside laptops today, but Intel has managed to get Ultrabooks to run them on a suprisingly low voltage. Furthermore, these processors will supercharge their power to much increased levels automatically when your activities require it!
So Which Type of Ultra-Portable Notebook Should You Invest in?
The Netbook: They're decent for many who don't desire to pay out big money. Netbooks are usually priced at only near 200 to 300 dollars, during sales they might sometimes get as low as $150.
Just don't expect to accomplish very much with these computers if you ever need to have demanding programs or large amounts of multitasking. Now, there are some rather dependable netbooks on the market that aren't as awful as I'm describing, but they are normally a lot more pricey.
The Ultrabook: Receive the portability while preserving maximum processing power. The best Ultrabooks will be a lot more pricey versus the common netbook, but they are definitely seriously worth the price tag!
Ultrabooks will be just one of those products that whenever you see them you MUST have it. Intel has been doing everything they can to keep all of these Ultrabooks reasonably priced, and even looking at every little thing that's stuffed inside these brilliantly thin and light shells, they're just genuinely great packages!
To discover more about the new, ultra-portable laptop category, check out this website to see the latest news about the best Ultrabooks and why they are the future of mobile computing!

Shameful Act by the Government of Andhra Pradesh
In a shocking decision, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has recently decided, to do away with the subsidy on electrical consumption that has been offered to Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences for more than 2 decades now. The Super Specialty hospital, founded by Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, is a totally free charity hospital, offering state of the art tertiary medical care, to one and all with out any discrimination whatsoever. Since its inception in the year 1991, inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, the successive governments of Andhra Pradesh, as a mark of their contribution to the noble charity work undertaken by the hospital, have offered subsidy on the Electricity consumption by the Hospital. A look at the mind boggling statistics is enough evidence for any one to realize the unbelievable service that has been done till now. Treatment to millions of out patients, hundreds of thousands of coronary procedures and other specialty surgeries, which would have costed the poor patients billions of rupees, is but a small indicator to everyone about the glorious work that Sri Sathya Sai Hospitals have been rendering over the past 2 decades now. To imagine a free hospital in a country where the government is steeped in corruption, where the budgeted amount for providing medical facilities to the poor lands in hands of few politicians and never reaches the intended, Sri Sathya Sai Super Specialty hospital have proved to the Government as to how medical care can be provided free of cost to the needy. It stood as a shining example and a role model to the rich and the mighty about the practical method of rendering charity work.
The shocking decision of the current regime, to not to continue the subsidy on electrical consumption the previous governments have been providing for more than 2 decades, just goes on to prove the inept administration and lack of vision. For a hospital which has been offering free medical care running into billions of rupees, it will not be an additional burden to pay its electricity bills. It will be shame on the part of the government which will lose an opportunity to contribute its bit towards such a noble cause. It is a hope and prayer that good sense will prevail and government will realize its folly and overrule its decision. The governments that rule the people are temporary, but the hospitals and institutions which were set up by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba are ever lasting and the charity that is being rendered by them needs every bit of encouragement.

Romney Paid Through the Nose
Governor Mitt Romney has finally capitulated to the nation's wealth-haters, releasing his tax records months before primary candidates typically do to quell swelling resentment fueled by Occupy Wall Streeters, left-leaning media, and attention-seekers like Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, and John Huntsman. (Thanks, GOP candidates!)
Of course Romney's forthrightness isn't good enough for the left, who now argue that he must release a dozen or perhaps 20 years of tax records, so we can spend the next ten months scrutinizing them for rounding errors and keep the focus off President Obama's record.
Obama-friendly journalists are suggesting Romney also release information on his complete financial portfolio, his retirement accounts, his trust funds for his wife and children, and sworn affidavits from eyewitnesses that he never cheated at Monopoly. (When is the media going to demand that Obama release his college transcripts?)
Romney's tax records showed apoplectic liberals and gullible mainstream media that he paid 14% federal income tax on the $42 million he earned in 2010 and 2011.
Doesn't sound like a lot? It's much higher than the percentage shelled out by the 47% of Americans who pay no federal income taxes, and it's more than the effective tax rate of 97% of Americans.
Mitt's tax rate was lower than it otherwise might have been, in part because he lost tens of millions of dollars during the recession and carried those losses over, thus reducing his tax burden in subsequent years. Our system handsomely rewards smart risk-taking in investment, because it's just as likely that you'll lose your shirt as strike it rich.
But the main reason Romney wasn't taxed at a higher rate is that he wasn't paying ordinary income tax. He was paying long-term capital gains taxes, which have been levied at a preferential rate to encourage capital investment since their inception nearly a century ago. Romney already paid the highest federal rate on the income he earned in years past, then paid again for the profits he made investing that income.
How many Occupy Wall Streeters understand that Mitt Romney paid a 14% tax rate on his long-term capital gains after he had already paid over 30% in federal taxes on the earnings he invested to acquire those gains?
Not to defend Warren Buffett, whose fabled secretary was trotted out as a campaign prop during the 2012 State of the Union address on Monday, but the reason Buffett got away with claiming he paid a lower percentage in taxes than his secretary was that he omitted that he had already paid handsomely in taxes on the income he earned and invested in capital gains. If Debbie Bosanek ever becomes a celebrity business magnate and gets filthy rich, she'll be forking it over to the government twice, too.
Lest we forget, all the wealth that Romney's wise investment choices created will in turn be taxed, and the next generation of investments funded from this wealth will be taxed, and on down the line in a snowballing cycle of tax revenue generation.
But the most fascinating aspect of the brouhaha over Romney's tax returns is that it's largely Democratic presidents who signed into law such favorable capital gains terms of which he has taken advantage-and of which they now disapprove.
Democratic presidents throughout the 20th century have certainly been less likely than Republican presidents to cut the marginal federal income tax rate. But it's Republicans, including Ronald Reagan, who have foolishly raised capital gains taxes again and again-admittedly often under pressure from overwhelmingly Democratic Congresses.
Richard Nixon raised the maximum capital gains tax rate from 36.5% to 39.875%, before Jimmy Carter slashed it to 28%. Reagan raised it from 20% at the beginning of his first term to 28%, George H. W. Bush inched it up to 28.93%, and then Bill Clinton hacked it from 29.19% to 21.19%.
This ironic partisan trend wasn't broken until the presidency of George W. Bush, the first Republican president to lower the maximum capital gains tax since it was instated under Warren Harding in 1921. Maybe Democratic presidents lowered capital gains taxes to compensate for having raised income taxes. But Republicans' embarrassing record on capital gains taxes speaks for itself.
So why didn't Romney make his tax records available to the public immediately after he was asked? Perhaps he didn't want to embarrass Obama.
As revealed in his War and Peace-length tax returns, Romney gave 370 times as much to charity in 2011 as Barack and Michelle Obama gave in the four years from 2000 to 2004. By percentage of income, Romney gave 20 times as much.
Romney gave 1,000 times as much to charity in 2011 as Joe Biden did in the ten years from 1999 to 2009.
Mitt gave so much to charity in 2010 and 2011-$7 million-that it eclipsed the not-insignificant $6 million in federal income taxes he paid.
If liberals refuse to believe that high-income earners like Mitt are the ones who do the bulk of the investing in our economy, foster the largest share of job creation, and shoulder the overwhelming majority of the federal tax burden, can they at least admit that rich people are the ones who keep most charitable organizations afloat?
