IBM Using Watson Super Computer to Categorize and Search Patents - I Have an Idea

Wouldn't it be great if we could use the IBM Watson Super Computer to become perfectly accurate, within 99.99%, as in Six Sigma proximity to rationalize the descriptions with the sketches? If so, we could use all of this data to train the Artificial Intelligent Super Computer to take an innovator's or inventor's voice dictated words or speech in describing a new invention, and then sketch it out for them. They say one form of human intelligence, seen in art, is the ability to take a 3D spatial thought and put it down onto a 2D piece of paper, or take a 3D visualized image and paint it or sketch it onto a 2D plane [Howard Gardner - Multiple Intelligence Theory].

Imagine the increased productivity of our most innovative individuals in this case? Yes, I am thinking of myself, I want such a system, but "there's no App for that!" Yet, anyway, however, I believe, I totally believe now, after considering all this that it is possible. Using the key words of the description the AI system could get extremely close, then the innovator would only have to make minor modifications. Imagine if Leonardo da Vinci had one of these back in the day, he'd still have his ability to modify things, but it would be 3/4 done just from his description and voice dictation into the machine.

Basically, it would draw his design, he could watch it before his eyes. Okay so, let me take this concept of mine to the next level, a way to go from conception to prototype in minutes or hours, not months and years. Once the description is drawn out 3/4 of the way, the inventor would make basic verbal command changes in the design and it would save the progress, just as the old Word Perfect did, then once completed the innovator would say complete, print to 3D Cad Cam design, and Holographic Image.

Next the innovator could interact with the hologram or light and make changes just as people do with gestures for Wii or on the iPad to turn pages. Finally, once totally happy with the design, a 3D printer could produce the model, mold, and prototype. Then lasers could cut any material that might be used to make the invention. Can you see what I am saying?

In this way we can have the AI computer working with and for the innovator, giving the inventor full-visualization from the spatial reasoning area of the mind to real life. Super Committee Looking for Places to Cut the Federal Budget - Census on the Chopping Block

It is truly amazing how much money was spent on the census in the US in 2010. In fact, I was quite bothered by the results, because the data was obviously skewed and incorrect. As a businessperson I follow all the statistics from the federal government, because I know it helps me make decisions.

Even though I am retired now from the franchising industry, I often consult small businesses and startups and therefore I need access to that information. Quite frankly if the government can't do a better job, at a better price, collecting this information, then maybe they shouldn't do it at all. Okay so let's talk about this for a second shall we.

Currently, corporations in America have far more data than the US government when it comes to the demographics of the US. Not only that, but by the time they go through your social networking page, and all the other data available, they know more about you than a burglar might learn burglarizing your home and going through all your personal files. Seriously, and we all know that's true, so let's not kid ourselves.

Recently, on Halloween 2011 there was a rather spooky article in the Wall Street Journal. The article was titled; "U.S. Census Confronts Budget Ax," by Ben Casselman. The article stated;

"Washington politicians often battle over what economic statistics mean and what to do about them. Now, they are fighting about the statistics themselves. The House Appropriations Committee didn't explicitly cut the 2012 economic senses; the panel cut President Barack Obama's proposal of a $1 billion census budget to only 855 million."

Now then, there's an obvious solution to this problem, and there is a way to get better data and better results, and more statistically reliable reporting by merely hiring the US post office which is also in debt to do the census for the government. After all the US postal workers already go to every house, and they pretty much have a good idea who lives there. Secondly, no one hates their postal person, and chances are the citizens won't lie to them when filling out the form.

Not only that people can fill out the form and leave it in their mailbox and the post office can pick it up, or folks can just drop it in the mail. That solves two birds with one stone and helps the U.S. Postal Service with their incredible budget problems. Why is it that people in Washington can figure this out? It's such a simple fix. Please consider all this and think on it.

What Happens When Super Computers Answer All Mankind's Questions?

At some point the super computer artificial intelligence systems we build will be able to answer all of mankind's questions. Now then, I have one more question to ask; what happens when theses systems answer all of our questions? And exactly what day and at what hour will that occur? Are you beginning to see what I'm getting at?

Right now our super computers cannot predict the weather, or the exact point at which a hurricane will make landfall based on the current circumstances, conditions, wind speed, atmosphere, ocean surface temperatures, and barometric pressure. But someday they will, as we are approaching super computer speeds in the exoFlop range. The ability to do that many calculations per second, and there is no reason why it would stop there, will actually allow a super computer to figure out the minute changes in weather caused by a butterfly flapping his wings; The Butterfly Effect, if you will.

But if a super computer can answer all the questions of mankind, then will humans stop asking questions? And when a human asks a question that has already been answered, the super computer will merely re-provide that identical answer again. Maybe the super computers and artificial intelligence systems will then become aware, and get tired of answering the same question over and over again, allowing the individual to surf the database without them.

Who might get more perturbed the super computer or the humans at the point at which all the questions have been asked, and also answered? An all-knowing computer that could calculate probability by percentages to such a reliable degree would be invaluable, but that would also affect the human psyche because nothing is left up to chance. Or it would make chance such a novelty, and such a scarce and precious commodity, that humans might change their behavior merely in an effort to dodge fate.

Of course that too could be calculated by the level of animosity of the individual human to go and do something out of the ordinary by chance, merely to prove the super computer wrong. Are you beginning to see the psychological and philosophical conundrum in all of this? In fact at that point everything would change in human society and civilization.

The super computers would be treated as if they were gods, but hated and despised when humans learn that freedom and freedom of thought is nothing more than an illusion, or is it? Indeed, I guess the super computers will tell us the answer that too someday. And until that day, I ask that you to please consider all this and think on it.
