Thieves may think they are smart, but there is a new sheriff in town, Santa. He knows they've been bad, not good, and he's watching them.

Our high-end, often pricy, smart gadgets, our iPhones, iPads, and iPods affect every area of our lives. This is never truer than during the holiday season.

Our "Smart Gadgets" have become our constant companion. One device or another awakens us on Christmas morning, travels with us to the bathroom, and lays patiently on the bathroom vanity while we brush our teeth, while we take a shower or a bath. We can check on our latest stock purchase, as we use the bathroom, call the bank and check on deposits, withdrawals, transfers and balance information, call for the time and temperature, the weather forecast, check the movie schedule, call for concert tickets, book and pay over the phone.

Thieves would love to get their hands on your smart gadgets and rip off all the information about you they can. They know you can book and pay for a flight, pay your satellite, pay your cable, Dish or Direct-TV bill, send flowers for births, weddings, gifts for special occasions, book a cruise or schedule a massage therapist, etc. They know if you can envision it or imagine it, you can pick up a smart-gadget and make the connection. You have become a mark for thieves. They can steal your iPhones, iPads, and iPods, sell your device, and steal your identity. It is a win-win for thieves.

We have become a sea of people one-hundred percent occupied with what is going on around us twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and three-hundred-sixty-five days a year. In short, we are pleasantly obsessed with our smart gadgets.

Bird Watching in Treasure Island Florida

Treasure Island, Florida is a wonderful place to observe some of the most magnificent wildlife in the country. Bird watching or birding is a very popular attraction to many people because of the variety of species that call these shores home. Actually, the area can serve as a good place to observe birds that may not be indigenous to the area. Many birds' migration patterns run through this region. There are some lovely shorebirds that can be spotted along this stretch of coast and it is recommended that every birder take some time to enjoy these species.

There is also a collective effort in the community to make sure these birds last for future generations, so always make sure to be careful and never disturb these creatures' natural habitats. Many of Florida's species are on the brink of peril and people should always make sure to enjoy the wildlife, while making sure to preserve the natural order.

Laughing Gull - During a trip to Treasure Island, you will no doubt see plenty of gulls. These birds are everywhere and will do their best to acquire some of the lunch you have brought to the beach, so be careful. If you plan to feed the gulls, make sure to do it away from other beachgoers because these birds will flock around you and it may perturb the other guests of the beach.

Willet/Sandpiper - The Willet is another very common species that can be found along Treasure Island's shores. This bird is part of the Sandpiper family and can be easily viewed combing the beach in search of food. The Willet's population declined in the early twentieth century due to hunting but has increased since that time. While steadily increasing in population, the Willet is considered to still be somewhat at risk.

Black Skimmer - These birds are a beautiful sight and can be seen flying low over the waters and skimming the lower part of their bill into the water in order to catch food, which is how they got their name. The Black Skimmer has a black back with a white underside and is very distinct with their bright orange bill that has a black front edge.

Terns - There are 3 varieties of Tern that can be found around Treasure Island. The Royal Tern is an orange-billed variety and can only be found near saltwater. The Royal Tern is found around Treasure Island in the winter months and does not breed in the area. The Gull-Billed Tern is also found along this stretch of coastal waters. These terns have a black bill and look similar to gulls, hence the name. This tern does breed in this area and can be found here in the summer months. Last but not least is the Least Tern is the smallest of the American tern varieties. These terns also breed in the area and can be found during the summer months.

American Oystercatcher - These birds breed in the area and can be found walking along the beach in search of food year-round. The bird is large for a shorebird and has a bright red bill and long legs. In the 19th century, they became locally extinct in the northeast due to hunting and egg-collecting, but then became protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.

Snowy Egret - This is a beautiful white heron that can be found around fresh water, as well as coastal regions like Treasure Island. This bird can be very easy to identify quickly because of their long black legs and yellow feet. The Snowy Egret has beautiful plumage during breeding season; these birds were sought after by market hunters which depleted the population to a dangerous level. These birds became protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918, as well.

Great Blue Heron - These birds can be found all over the country and are extremely common in Florida year-round. They can be found throughout the entire state around fresh and saltwater. They are the largest American herons and are tall with long legs. The Great Blue Heron will walk slowly in shallow water while searching for food until they dive their head quickly to snag fish.

Brown Pelican - Brown Pelicans can be found year-round in Treasure Island and are very distinct birds. Many tourists enjoy to get photos of these birds as they sit floating on the water or when they dive to catch fish. These pelicans are unique from other 6 species because they are the only dark pelicans. They are also the only pelican that dives from the air into the water in order to catch their food.

White Ibis - These birds are found throughout the year in Treasure Island and are distinguished by their white body and bright red legs and bills. These birds also have black wingtips that usually only be seen while they are in flight. The White Ibis can be viewed while foraging along the coast for small crustaceans and crayfish.

Great Egret - This bird is also known as the Great White Heron or the Great White Egret. These birds are tall (up to 3.3 feet!) and all white with yellow bills. The Great Egret can be found in Treasure Island year-round and can be found feeding in shallow water on frogs, fish, and sometimes lizards. These birds are one of the most beautiful and majestic species that the Treasure Island area has to offer birders.

Come to Florida and enjoy watching birds while staying in a Treasure Island resort and make sure to look for Treasure Island resort specials for your vacation.

How to Position Yourself for Success by Watching Waves

The great surfers tend to watch a wave before heading out on the water, especially when showing up at a new break. If you're familiar with the surf break, maybe you just dive right in or spend a shorter time watching. Now the question I have for you, why don't you do that in life? For example, maybe you're in an important interview. Having done a lot of interviews, I see new folks tell me about how great they are and what they accomplished. The really great interviewees tend to ask me questions to find out a little more before diving into telling me about themselves. The power of observation can help you navigate the situation of the life wave that you're about to surf or get crushed.

Here is a situation many of us fall victim to a crushing blow of a wave - your relationship. Consider the situation where your partner comes home and has had a horrible day. Now if you're in a laid-back surfer mood, you'll observe that your partner is either upset with you or just upset. Maybe they come how and start grumbling, getting sharp with you, or start seriously complaining about nothing. Here's two situations, you push back right away because your partner just ruined your good mood, or you ask questions to help the situation. What would happen if you look at the situation like a new break? Just watch for a minute, just listen. Then ask questions that notice the behavior but don't accept the behavior. For example: "Wow, seems like something happened today. What do you need to make it better?" So I acknowledged something happened, and I used my empowering questions to find out how to make it better. Of course sometimes it doesn't make it better, but many times it puts your partner on the right track and doesn't kill your surfer mood. mad at the wave, just learn how to position yourself to either ride or pass on the wave.

Probably, the toughest challenge for many people is being patient. Especially when it comes to life and changing yourself to achieve the attitude to receive what you want out of life. If you want to ride the biggest wave in the world, you just don't go out your back door, jump in the water, and start paddling. You have to train, practice, set up a crew to drag you out of the water if you fall, watch the weather patterns, and find the perfect break. You may have to wait years, seriously. But if you want to do it, you do, and you're not thinking about patience, you are anticipating the arrival of your wave. Do you know why you're excited about it, because you know that wave will come. It's nature, nature produces storms, and if you're wanting to ride a huge wave you can't change nature, but you can observe it so you can be in the right position at the right time to hit the wave. This still doesn't guarantee you get what you want, but at least you're in the best possible position to surf a massive mountain of water.

If you're willing to wait for a wave, why aren't you patience with other things you want in life? Taking time to watch, learn, and position yourself for success removes stress, worry, and allows you to enjoy the entire process. As you become patient and most importantly observant, you'll notice things many people miss completely. You may also find your own wave or niche in life that you never really noticed about yourself.

South American Bird Watching

Home to over 600 species of bird and with 28 national parks across the country, Costa Rica has a wealth of opportunities for bird watching to please everyone from enthusiast to first-timer alike. But with so many to choose from, where do you begin?

Famously named by National Geographic as 'the most biologically intense place on earth', Parque Nacional Corcovado is the last remaining area of original tropical rainforest in Pacific Central America.

The vast range in biological diversity includes Costa Rica's largest population of scarlet macaws which attract many bird watchers every year. Besides, it is a good place for watching resplendent quetzals, a vibrant green and red coloured bird, sacred to ancient Mesoamerican people.

The national park covers an area of over 42,000 hectares, protecting eight distinct habitats including: mangrove swamps, primary and secondary rainforest, low altitude cloud forest and sandy coastline. Enter the park via Puerto Jimnez or Drake Bay.

Tortuguero National Park is one of Costa Rica's favoured ecotourism destinations. The area, which was originally an archipelago of volcanic islands, is home to over 300 species of bird and known for being the best place to see green macaws in Costa Rica.

These iconic birds mate for life, sharing food and mutually grooming each other. Reaching up to 90cm long, green macaws are one of the world's largest species of parrot; unfortunately they are also one of the most endangered - it is reported that only 30% of their original number remain.

There is no road to the national park or town of Tortugero; they are accessed by boat from Mon or small aircraft. For this reason it is advisable to book onto a tour.

Monteverde Biological Cloud Forest Reserve has increased in popularity over recent years. It's high altitude of 1,440m above sea level means it receives a steady supply of clouds and moisture, giving life to over 2,500 varieties of plants, tens of thousands of insect species, over 100 species of mammals and 400 species of birds.

Besides, it is regarded as the best place to see hummingbirds and resplendent quetzals in Costa Rica. Adventure seekers can also enjoy riding the longest zip line in Costa Rica. There are numerous organised tours which can combine coffee plantations and horseback riding too however, for independent travellers, buses leave daily from San Jose; and Puntarenas. Considering the variety of activities on offer, it is advisable to stay for a few days.

Although Ecuador and Peru tend to get all the credit for amazing South American holidays, don't forget the other countries. Get your Costa Rica eco tour by using a recommended Costa Rica travel agent.
